The 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) was held from March 15-26, 2021, at the headquarters of the United Nations, in New York, the United States. The session, including both online and offline events, highlighted the priority theme: "Women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls."
As head of the Chinese delegation, Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, delivered a video speech at the general discussion. Xia outlined the great importance the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Government have attached to women during the fight against the novel coronavirus disease and the battle against poverty, as well as Chinese women's participation in and contributions to those fights.
Xia called on the international community to raise the efficiency of implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (released at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in 1995), and to make contributions together to build and share a better world for women and for all.
