As a side event of the Fifth Meeting of the China-Europe High-Level Mechanism for Dialogue on People-to-People Exchanges, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the European Commission co-organized a virtual session on gender equality on November 9, 2020. Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and the person in charge from the Chinese side, delivered a speech on gender-equality issues under the China-Europe mechanism.
Four speakers from the Chinese side and four speakers from the European side spoke on a variety of topics, including "the reason why boys' scores are left behind (than girls) and this phenomenon's impact on society" and "how gender stereotyping influences students' reaction in studies." More than 50 people participated the session.
