Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at the beginning of this year, overseas Chinese have showed great concern about their motherland's fight against this disease. To support China's efforts in fighting the virus, members of Jinguo Committee in the United States have been led by its president, Zhang Sujiu, to collect and send two batches of donations to the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF).
Donated medical goods have included 1,000 medical-use masks, 4,000 pairs of medical-use gloves, 6,000 normal masks and 200 sets of protective suits, worth a combined 80,000 yuan (US $11,429). The goods have been donated through ACWF to the Maternal and Child Hospital of Hubei Province and the Red Cross Society of China Beijing Xicheng District Branch.
Zhang, nearly 90 years old, led members of Jinguo Committee, including Chen Jie, Yang Bi, Li Qinghua, Liu Ling, Zhang Ping, Yang Shuhui, Lv Yijing, Luo Aixin, Zhang Mei, Huang Ai, Liang Shufen, Chen Lian and Ma Yanqing, in transferring the goods from factories and depositories to the venue for posting.
Jinguo Committee is a renowned Chinese women's organization in Los Angeles. The committee's president, Zhang Sujiu, is the youngest daughter of General Zhang Zhizhong (a patriotic army leader in China's history). As an influential Chinese woman who lives in West of the US, Zhang Sujiu has made contributions to advancing the great unity and development of her home country.
