Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, headed a Chinese delegation to the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+25 Review, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 27-29, 2019.

After intense negotiations and efforts to stop the United States' attempts to prevent the adoption of the conference's outcome document by consensus, the Chinese delegation helped promote the eventual adoption of the Asia-Pacific Declaration on Advancing Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: Beijing+25 Review. Thirty-seven countries voted to approve the document; only one country, the United States, voted against adoption.

In Xia's speech, during the conference, she outlined Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the important spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee and the achievements of Chinese women's development since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. Xia called on women, from all countries, to enhance communications and cooperation, to promote global gender equality and to build a community of shared future for mankind.

A photo exhibition on Chinese women's development, with the theme "Women, Half the Sky," was held by the Chinese delegation. Participants from various countries praised China's achievements in promoting gender equality and women's all-round development.

In Bangkok, Xia met distinguished participants to the conference, including Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP); Anita Bhatia, Assistant to Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women; Masoumeh Ebtekar, Iran's Vice-President; Lee Jeong-Ok, Minister of Women and Family of the Republic of Korea; Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the  Republic of Armenia; and Delphine O, Ambassador, Secretary-General for the Generation Equality Forum of France.
