Chinese Delegation Attends APEC WEF

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Women and the Economy Forum (WEF), was held in La Serena, Chile, from September 30 to October 5, 2019. The San Diego Roadmap on Women and Inclusive Growth and the 2019 APEC WEF Statement were adopted during the forum. Chinese delegation, headed by Huang Shu, Deputy Director-General of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended the APEC WEF.

The Chinese delegation participated in the forum's sessions, including the high-level policy dialogue, Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy (PPWE) meetings and the public and private dialogue. The delegates communicated with representatives from various economies, including Chile, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Russia, Japan, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Thailand.

The ACWF, in collaboration with the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China and the China Association of Women Entrepreneurs, recommended outstanding women representatives from the business and academic fields to attend the APEC WEF. Two of those representatives won awards. Jiang Hong, an associate professor with School of Public Health, Fudan University, finished second during a contest on "APEC Healthy Women and Healthy Economy Research Award." Shi Caixia, an entrepreneur from North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, won the "Best Social Impact" award, one of the "APEC Bests" awards.
