Cuban Women Cadres' Delegation Visits China

At the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), a 10-member delegation of women from Cuba visited Beijing and Southwest China's Sichuan Province from September 2-12, 2019. The delegation was headed by Anierka Fernandez del Monte, Member of the Secretariat of the Cuban Women's Federation and Member of the National People's Congress of Cuba.

Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Wang Yajun, Vice Minister of the IDCPC, met the delegation in Beijing. They exchanged views with the delegates on China-Cuba relations, and on experiences in promoting the development of women's undertakings.

During her meeting with the delegation, on September 3, Xia said China and Cuba are both socialist countries, and the two countries are "good friends, good comrades and good brothers." Women's exchanges represent an important part of the Chinese-Cuban friendship. The role of women's exchanges and cooperation must be better played to contribute to the advancement of Chinese-Cuban relations, Xia added.

Xia also explained the importance the CPC and Chinese Government have attached to women's work, as well as the achievements reached in women's undertakings since the People's Republic of China was founded 70 years ago. She discussed women's work carried out under the leadership of the Communist parties of both countries, and, in particular, the support provided to women's participation in economic and social development.

During their stay in China, the delegates visited China National Museum of Women and Children and China National Children's Center, where they learned the history and current situation of Chinese women and children's development. They visited various women's development projects in urban and rural areas, communicated with women entrepreneurs and learned about women's federations' good practices in combining the efforts of governments, at all levels, with all segments of society to advance women's employment, entrepreneurship and overall development. The delegates also participated in colorful activities organized by community-based women's federations.
