Chinese Women's Delegation Attends Women's Issues Conference in Uzbekistan

At the invitation of Tanzila Narbaeva, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Women's Committee of Uzbekistan, Chen Xiaoxia, Director-General of the Family and Children's Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), headed a three-member delegation to Uzbekistan from November 6-10, 2018. The delegation attended an international conference, with the theme "Role of Women in Democratic Renewal and Modernization of the Country: Uzbekistan's Experience and International Practice." 

Narbaeva presided over the conference, attended by representatives from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and women's organizations from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan.

Chen delivered a speech, entitled "Women's Employment and Entrepreneurship, Guarantee of Family Power." She outlined the great achievements in China since it implemented the Reform and Opening-up policy 40 years ago, and especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. She also introduced the concepts of a community of shared future, the Belt and Road Initiative and the measures China has taken to promote development of families and women's employment and entrepreneurship.
