Message of Int'l Women's Day from the All-China Women's Federation

 March 7, 2023

On the occasion of March 8th International Women's Day, the All-China Women's Federation extends to you season's greetings and blessings amid the refreshing and blossoming spring.

The year 2022 has witnessed crises and challenges but also nurtured opportunities and hopes. People have come to appreciate the preciousness of life in responding to COVID-19, felt the warmth of cooperation in overcoming crises, and have become more resolute in forging ahead and working together for a win-win.

In 2022, the Communist Party of China (CPC) successfully convened its 20th National Congress. An ambitious blueprint has been drawn for advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. We have embarked on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects. The CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core cares deeply about women and children. The development of women and children and the fostering of stronger family ties, values and traditions have been planned within the context of the cause of the Party and the country, which has led to historic achievements. President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order to promulgate the newly revised Law of the PRC on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests. President Xi also sent a congratulatory letter to the China National Children's Center on its 40th anniversary, expressing sincere expectations for women and children's undertakings. The 20th CPC National Congress has put forward new plans and guidance for women, children and family development in the new era.

Over the past year, Chinese people have forged ahead with determination and perseverance, achieving steady economic growth and a bumper harvest for the 19th year in a row. We have consolidated our gains in poverty alleviation, advanced rural revitalization and entered a new phase in COVID response. The Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games concluded with resounding success. Chinese winter sports athletes gave their all and achieved extraordinary results. C919, China's first large passenger aircraft, was delivered. And the Baihetan hydropower station went into full operation. Shenzhou-13, Shenzhou-14 and Shenzhou-15 soared into the heavens. China's space station was fully completed and our "home in space" is roving in the deep-blue sky. None of these achievements would have been possible without the sweat and toil of the numerous Chinese people, including women. On the new journey toward Chinese modernization, by bringing their unique role in social and family life into full play, Chinese women strive to become builders of the great cause, advocates of civic virtues and followers of their dreams. Their role and contribution have become more prominent as "Half of the Sky."

As the largest women's organization in China, the All-China Women's Federation, working in effective coordination at different levels, rallies and mobilizes women to actively participate in the country's economic and social development, in responding to COVID-19, promoting high-quality development and advancing family virtues in the new era. We strengthen our involvement in legislation to protect the legitimate rights and interests of women and children. We  promote the implementation of the China National Program for Women's Development and China National Program for Child Development. We deepen exchanges with women of foreign countries, enhancing people-to-people communication and friendship, and advancing global women's cause.

Today, our world, our times and history are changing in ways like never before. At a new starting point in history, we will push forward Chinese modernization in full spirit, manage our own affairs well, and at the same time hold high the banner of peace and development. We will expand exchanges and cooperation with people of other countries, promote shared values of all humanity, and make new contribution to building a human community with a shared future, a better world for all women and all people!

Last but not least, we wish you good health and success in career!
