A variety of events were held all over the country to mark the upcoming Chongyang Festival, or Double Ninth Festival, a day to respect the elderly people that falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, which is October 25 this year.

The nationwide celebrations enriched the seniors' cultural lives and further promoted the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting and caring for the elderly.
