Gao Mingqin, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, and director of a law firm in East China's Shandong Province, went to the Law School of Weifang University to publicize China's new Civil Code on June 16.

Gao said that as a NPC deputy and a legal worker, she has the responsibility to popularize and explain the Civil Code to the public.

The Civil Code, known as "The Encyclopedia of Social Life," was adopted at the third session of the 13th NPC, on May 28, and will take effect on January 1, 2021.
