Coach Lang Ping Donates to Medical Workers in Wuhan

 March 5, 2020

The donation of anti-epidemic supplies to Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei Province, by Lang Ping, head coach of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team, ranked on the top of the Sina Weibo hot search list on March 1.

Her donation was made public by a well-meaning medical worker. In response, Lang, who has always kept a low profile, said, "This is just a little something, and I hope they can win the battle against the virus as soon as possible."

Lang is leading her team to undergo closed training to get better prepared for the forthcoming Olympic Games.

"I kept following the news, and I'm deeply moved by the dedication of medical workers who risk being infected or even possibly sacrificed," Lang said. "This spirit is particularly inspiring to us."

On February 24, a Weibo user posted a photo of a ResMed multi-purpose medical ventilator donated by Lang to Wuhan, with the text "Thank Coach Lang Ping." The netizen is a nurse from the China-Japan Friendship Hospital who is aiding the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Wuhan.

The photo shows the packing box printed with "Wuhan stay strong, China stay strong," and a letter handwritten by Lang: "Thanks for your hard work in the battle against the COVID-19 in Wuhan. At different frontlines, let's cheer each other on!"

There are also two lines of poetry written on the carton. "All men are brothers," and "take care to wait for the spring breeze" They are from Chinese classical literary and artistic works, and express Lang's best wishes to Wuhan.

On Jan 28, Zhu Ting, captain of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team, appeared in an anti-epidemic trailer depicting Zhoukou City, Henan Province, to cheer her hometown. She said, "My fellows, please stay at home and ventilate regularly to keep healthy. This is a way of making great contribution to win the epidemic prevention and control battle. Come on!"

On February 15, the official Weibo account of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team uploaded an MV to boost the morale of Wuhan, paying tribute to those fighting on the frontline.

Women's volleyball Olympic champions Zhang Changning and Gong Xiangyu recently filmed five video clips titled "Small Actions, Great Health and Anti-epidemic" to help people improve immunity by exercising at home.
