The outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disturbed everybody's life. What is the COVID-19? How does it spread? What will happen if a person is infected with the virus? These questions make children curious. 

An 8-year-old girl named Huang Xuerun recently painted a picture book "The Self-righteous End — the Self-statement of the COVID-19," using her own perspective to tell the story of the virus. 

Huang is a second grade pupil. Her mother is a middle school Chinese teacher. Inspired by her mother, Huang loves reading, writing and painting. After the outbreak of COVID-19, she spent 10 days completing the manuscript of the picture book that narrates the emergence, spreading and harmful effects of the virus. 

In the picture book, Huang painted the efforts made by all of society and showed her understanding of the epidemic. 

Miao Hongcai, President of Shanghai Education Publishing House, said that children's point of view is an important part of the social perspective. "We educate children, they also educate us," he said. 

Xu Jianfei, an editor of the publishing house, said that the picture book shows a child's perspective to show the fight against the COVID-19, and confidence and belief in winning it.

Psychological consultant Chen Mo thinks that children use their own eyes to observe the epidemic and write stories and draw imaginative paintings that are very suitable for children to read. 

The picture book gives children the confidence to defeat the COVID-19 and makes them no longer afraid of it. 

"The book tells children that there are so many people protecting them and shows them how to be grateful," Chen added.
