Bai Yue, born in 1993, is a woman captain of the Shanxi Jinli General Aviation Co. Ltd.

Bai has longed for the blue sky ever since she was a child. She majored in flight attendant and management in the university, dreaming of becoming an airline stewardess.

However, she changed her career planning when an airline came to her school to recruit women pilots in the second semester of her junior year. She passed the exam, and she became a pilot after two years' study.

With the increasing pressure on forest fire prevention in various places, the general aviation company cooperated with the local government to carry out air patrol missions by helicopter, ensuring the safety of forest and grassland resources.

Bai and four other colleagues of the crew have been working for more than 10 days since late March. Although the daily inspection mission lasts less than two hours, the preparation work must start from the previous day, including reporting the flight plan, coordinating airspace, checking each part of the aircraft according to the checklist, and holding a flight preparation meeting.

The preparation takes a longer time, but for Bai, it is a responsibility. "When you are ready to fly and then land safely, you will feel a sense of pride that is beyond words," Bai said.

Bai is familiar with forest fire prevention. She joined in the rescue of the forest fire occurred in Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province, on March 29 in 2019, and she still felt sad about the disaster.

"The scenery of the mountains in Qinyuan is really beautiful, but it was a mess after the fire. I feel a strong sense of loss," said Bai, adding that she is willing to protect the beautiful ecology and escort the green mountains.
