Shenzhen Improves Efforts to Promote Gender Equality

ByGu Wentong February 8, 2022

Shenzhen Women's Federation and Shenzhen Metro Group Co.,Ltd. in December 2021 held a ceremony to announce the establishment of an experimental center (in the company) to promote gender equality. The center, the first of its kind in China, marked a milestone in the country's efforts to promote gender equality. The event was held in Shenzhen, a city in South China's Guangdong Province. Within a short time, anti-sexual-harassment signs, posters and videos appeared in Shenzhen's subway stations, and various other public places.

Shenzhen Women's Federation, Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and other organizations in January issued the Guide to the Prevention and Control of Sexual Harassment Against Women in Shenzhen. The event was intended to promote implementation of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, which took effect on January 1, 2021.

The guide contains regulations on the prevention and control of sexual harassment, both in public and the workplace.
