Puyang, a city in central China's Henan Province, launched its hotline (0393-6966660), for minors' protection and social-assistance counseling, on August 24.

The hotline, operated around the clock, receives inquiries about minors' protection, and about policies and regulations related to social assistance. It deals with complaints of cases involving the harm of minors' rights and/or interests, and various other issues concerning the protection of minors. It also provides psychological counseling and helps people who need assistance to access social support.

If an operator receives a call involving an issue related to the protection of a minor in one of the six specific categories (family, school, society, Internet, government and/or judicial protection), and if he/she encounters a problem he/she can't solve on the phone, the operator will fill out an information form with details from the call. The individual will then transfer the form to the relevant department.
