 June 27, 2021

Xinjiang Women and Children's Development Center (under the Women's Federation of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) and Xinjiang Natural Resources Publicity and Education Center on April 24 initiated an activity to promote the concept of ecological civilization among children of various ethnic groups. The event was held in Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to mark both the 52nd Earth Day (on April 22) and the 26th World Reading Day (on April 23).

The event on April 24 marked the initiation of an activity to promote communications among 10,000 children of various ethnic groups, to help them better understand each other. The activity was part of the campaign, conducted by the Women's Federation of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to promote residents' love of their homes and mother country.

The federation called on children (of various ethnic groups in Xinjiang) and their families to participate in the tree-planting campaign in the region, and to help people improve their awareness of the importance of environmental protection. The federation also encouraged parents to read with their children, and to promote family education, virtues and traditions among the children. In addition, the federation encouraged children of various ethnic groups to promote their friendships and communications.
