A group of outstanding women from all walks of life shared their stories about pursuing dreams and contributing to society at a roundtable session for women in Beijing on July 29.

To spread women's positive energy online, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission (OCCAC) launched the roundtable session, which was jointly organized by Zhihu, China's popular question-and-answer website, and gsdata.cn, a new media evaluation platform.

Wu Haiying, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, spoke at the event.

Wu noted that the roundtable session is an important initiative of the ACWF to unite and lead more women to work hard at their posts, and contribute to the decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the battle against poverty.

During the activity, some women role models shared their inspirational stories and thought-provoking opinions.

"I think women need to have a very important quality, which is to stay self-motivated, self-development and pursue their dreams bravely," said Pang Xiaoqing, co-founder of a famous Internet media company, underlining that women should seize the opportunities of the times and make contributions to social development.

Sun Jinghan, co-founder of an online video platform, shared her entrepreneurial story. "I chose to start a business for realizing my own social value, and I believe I have unlimited possibilities," Sun said.

She Sha, a female role model medical worker on the front line of the battle against COVID-19, shared her stories of rescuing and treating COVID-19 patients in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei Province. She expressed her gratitude to those who extended their hands to help quake-affected people when a magnititude-8 earthquake hit Wenchuan, her hometown and a county in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, in May 2008. "All the people around the country have helped my hometown 12 years ago, so I chose to pay back to those who have helped us and I was determined to go to the front line," said She, adding that she was proud of being a nurse.

Yang Xue, an anti-epidemic volunteer in Wuhan, shared women's power in the battle against COVID-19. She set up a fleet of vehicles through the Internet to pick up medical workers and transport epidemic prevention and control supplies.
