Lecturers' Group Helps Residents Better Understand Laws

 March 16, 2020

In response to the call of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) to battle novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Mulan Youyue Lecturers' Group (in North China's Hebei Province) on January 27 established a WeChat (China's most popular cross-platform, instant-messaging service) group, through which the group's members publicize information about laws and regulations, and remind residents they must not be involved in illegal acts that disturb social order (during the epidemic prevention and control period).

Mulan Youyue Lecturers' Group was established by Hebei Women's Federation, Hebei Association of Women Judges, Hebei Association of Women Procurators, and Hebei Association of Lawyers, in June 2015. During the past five years, the group has organized more than 1,000 women judges, procurators and lawyers to conduct more than 1,500 activities to help residents better understand laws. In 2016, the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee named the group one of the collectives (in Hebei) that had distinguished itself in the protection of residents' legal rights and interests.

A woman judge, procurator and lawyer, who are members of the group, worked together to compile and post articles with simple language and vivid pictures, to explain to residents the legal consequences of illegal acts that disturb social order (during the epidemic prevention and control period).

Within a short time, Hebei Women's Federation forwarded, via its WeChat account, the group's online articles. The articles were well received among netizens.
