Musical Telling Poverty Fighting Stories Staged in Beijing

 November 9, 2020

BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) — A musical that tells stories from China's fight against poverty was staged in the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing on Friday.

Based on stories from Shibadong Village in central China's Hunan Province, where the "targeted poverty alleviation" concept was first put forward, the musical tells how Xiao Ya's family shook off poverty through resettlement, as well as stories of officials dispatched to rural areas to help impoverished residents.

Featuring ethnic music and dance, the show has innovatively combined local Hunan music and dance with symphony and modern dance.

The musical will also be staged this Saturday.
