ByXu Fan September 1, 2020

Honghe Afar, a domestic musical film, is set to debut during the 77th Venice Film Festival, which will take place in Italy between September 2 and 12.

Produced by Jiang Xiaorong and Yu Rongguang, whose previous joint works mostly center on the rich history and culture in Southwest China's Yunnan Province, the new feature has again turned the lens to the unique landscapes and ethnic lifestyle in the province.

Under the helm of Zhao Jia, the film casts Yu, a once-popular action star, actress Pan Hong, actors Gao Taiyu and Zhu Xiaoyu.

A musical journey to Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan, the film features some local landmarks, including the spectacular rice terraces plowed by ethnic Hani people on the slopes of the Ailao Mountain and the 1,200-year-old historical town Jianshui. Purple pottery, one of the country's four most famous potteries, is also shown in the film.

A series of new posters was released on Monday, showcasing the beauty of Yunnan and the hospitality of locals.
