Stories of Women Anti-Virus Fighters, a cartoon book about female academicians, medical personnel, community workers, and volunteers in the battle against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), has been published after three months of creative process.

Author Li Qiang, a famous cartoonist in East China's Shandong Province, shows the important role and great power of women in the anti-epidemic battle by drawing more than 200 original cartoons.

When Li depicts Li Lanjuan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, in the background of the picture are orchids, partly because her name has the Chinese word "lan (orchid)" in it, and partly because she is from East China's Zhejiang Province, and the provincial flower happens to be the orchid.

When drawing pictures to show "When disaster struck, help came from all sides," Li Qiang tried to restore the uniforms of the medical teams of each province as much as possible, and use provincial flowers as backgrounds, symbolizing that every woman is like a flower, strong and beautiful.

The last picture, "Zero," symbolizes that there are no longer cases of infection in Wuhan City and Hubei Province, the country's hardest-hit area by the COVID-19 epidemic.

Academician Li provided an inscription for the book and Sun Qianbin, Editor-in-Chief of China Women's News, wrote the preface of the book.

"Each of us is a participant. If every female reader can find her figure of fighting against the epidemic in this book, feel empathetic and inspired, and keep it as a memento, the book finds its meaning and value," said Yao Jian, the planner and editor of the book.
