BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) — The 2020 edition of A Reading of China's Current Affairs has been published by the Xinhua Publishing House.

The book offers an overview of China's national conditions through a compilation of news photos by reporters from the Xinhua News Agency, excerpts from the China Yearbook, statistical bulletins from the National Bureau of Statistics and includes accounts of major events.

The book charts the achievements made by the Communist Party of China and the country in 2019 and milestone events including the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.

Covering areas including politics, economy, culture, science, technology, and people's livelihoods, the book presents a panorama of China's society in 2019.

A Reading of China's Current Affairs has been published annually since 2008. The 2020 edition will be available across the country.
