A recent publication of Xinhua Publishing House, Short Stories of Chinese Calligraphy, shows the evolution of Chinese calligraphy and explores the essence of traditional Chinese culture.

Written by An Xuan, a calligrapher and Doctor of calligraphy, the book integrates knowledge of Chinese characters with stories of Chinese calligraphy. It describes the birth and evolution of Chinese characters and five styles of calligraphy as well as folktales and anecdotes about the famous figures behind each style.

In addition, it is also an audio book using audios that can be accessed when readers scan the QR codes, making the book interesting and easy to understand.

Liang Xiangbin, President of Xinhua Publishing House, said that the book is a new calling card and vivid teaching resource for inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese culture and fostering cultural self-confidence.

An said that the purpose of this book is to activate Chinese characters and to show their charm, attracting more people to love them and be more interested in Chinese calligraphy.
