The exhibition, China's Progress in Digital and Intelligent Empowerment for Women and Girls, made its overseas debut in Istanbul, Türkiye, on July 10. Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended and delivered a speech. More than 100 people, including Mahir Polat, Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Hasan Çapan, President of the Turkish Chinese Friendship Foundation, and Wei Xiaodong, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul, also attended.
Huang noted, under the guidance of the countries' heads of State, cooperation between China and Türkiye, in various fields, has progressed steadily with substantial outcomes. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Türkiye. The exhibition showcasing China's progress in digital and intelligent empowerment for women and girls held its first overseas show in Istanbul, which not only reflects the profound bilateral friendship between the countries, but also is a powerful endorsement of the countries' shared commitment to cooperation, Huang said.
Huang noted Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women (GLMW), in Beijing, in October 2025, and he delivered a keynote address, injecting strong momentum into the advancement of global women's cause. China stands ready to work with all parties, to follow the guiding principles from the GLMW, promote the new and accelerated process for women's all-round development, and build a community with a shared future for humanity, she added. Huang also recounted stories of Xi's visits to people's homes, and how Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, as a Spring Bud Project special envoy, has promoted girls and women's education, among other vivid cases, to explain China's efforts in promoting the high-quality development of women's cause.
Chinese and international guests visited the exhibition with keen interest, and they said China, by hosting the GLMW and the exhibition, a side event of GLMW, has made important contributions to the development of global women's cause. Many of the international guests said they are willing to learn from China's experiences, and to promote implementation of the outcomes of the GLMW.
While in Türkiye, Huang had extensive exchanges with distinguished figures from Turkish political, business, academia, educational, cultural and artistic communities, and with media representatives.
The exhibition, produced by the China National Museum of Women and Children, will run for one month in Türkiye.
