Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met Vikram Doraiswami, Indian Ambassador to China, in Beijing, on July 3.
Huang noted, under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, China-India relations have undergone a reset and started anew, and bilateral exchanges and cooperation have since made new progress. China stands ready to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and be good-neighborly friends and partners that help each other succeed, she added.
Huang also noted China and UN Women cohosted the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women (GLMW), in Beijing, in October 2025. Xi attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address, injecting strong momentum into the advancement of global women's cause, and marking a new milestone in the history of the international women's movement.
Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition showcasing China's progress in digital and intelligent empowerment for women and girls, a side event of GLMW, Huang added. Peng, as a Spring Bud Project special envoy for the advancement of girls' education, has made outstanding contributions to empowering women's all-round development through education, she continued.
Huang noted the Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China (2026-2030) has integrated women and children's causes, and family building, into the overall architecture of China's development, and it has proposed numerous systematic institutional plans. China will continue advancing women's development to the forefront of the times, and provide opportunities and guarantees for the global women's cause, through its latest development, Huang said. She also outlined ACWF's work on encouraging women to devote themselves to high-quality development, and on deepening cooperation in global women's cause.
Doraiswami spoke highly of the achievements in Chinese women's development, and he shared India's experiences and efforts in promoting gender equality. He invited Huang to lead a delegation to the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting, to be held in India, to deepen exchanges and mutual learning on the common development of women's causes in the two countries.
