Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met Pamela Charlette, Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Equality of Seychelles, in Beijing, on May 29.
Huang noted China-Seychelles relations are a model of sincere friendship, equality, mutual assistance and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes. Women's exchanges are an important aspect of the two countries' friendship. The ACWF stands ready to work with the Seychelles side to implement the important consensuses reached by the nations' heads of State, to deepen practical cooperation in the field of women, and to elevate China-Seychelles strategic partnership to new heights, Huang said.
Huang outlined the guiding principles from Chinese President Xi Jinping's keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, held in Beijing, in October 2025. She explained how the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has integrated women's development into the overall architecture of Chinese modernization for coordinated progress, how it has ensured Chinese women exercise their lawful democratic rights, participate in social and economic development, and share the fruits of reform and development, all on the foundation of gender equality, and China's historic progress in the cause of women.
Huang noted the Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China (2026-2030) has a dedicated section on promoting gender equality and women's well-rounded development, providing solid safeguards for the high-quality development of women's cause in the new era. Huang also outlined ACWF's efforts to cultivate stronger family bonds, values and traditions, and to protect women and children's lawful rights and interests.
Charlette spoke highly of China's achievements in women's development, and she said she appreciated ACWF's innovative approaches and fruitful outcomes in promoting women's and families' development and in protection of rights and interests. She said she is willing to learn from China's experiences, deepen exchanges with ACWF in the field of development for women, children and families, and promote China-Seychelles friendship and the development of women's causes in the two countries.
Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Anne Lafortune, Ambassador of Seychelles to China, also attended.
