Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, led the Chinese delegation at the event.
During the meeting, Huang explained the guiding principles from the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held from October 20-23, and also from Chinese President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women (GLMW) on October 13. Huang also explained how GLMW was a significant milestone in the cause of global women's development. She also shared how Xi has put forward China's philosophy in promoting gender equality, with great foresight, and how he has supported the development of global women’s cause, through concrete actions.
While providing detailed statistics and vivid examples, Huang outlined China's remarkable achievements in incorporating women's development into efforts to advance Chinese modernization, and promoted the inclusion of China's hosting GLMW into the outcome documents of the G20 Empowerment of Women Ministerial Meeting. Huang also urged all countries to work together to implement the consensus reached during GLMW, to promote the new and accelerated process for women's all-round development, and to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Participants of the ministerial meeting hailed the vision Xi presented during his keynote speech at GLMW, and spoke highly of China's sense of duty as a responsible major country. For example, they noted, China has used its own development to provide opportunities and guarantees for global women's cause.
