Huang Xiaowei, Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met foreign guests, attending the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, in Beijing, on October 13. Huang met Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Sindisiwe Chikunga, South Africa's Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Svetlana Orlova, President of the Russian side of the Women's Council of China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development (CRFCPD), and Auditor of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, Maria Sittel, Chairman of the Women's Union of Russia, and Gertrude Mongella, Secretary-General of the Fourth World Conference on Women. Huang also had cordial exchanges with the guests.
Huang noted Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women. Xi put forward four proposals to accelerate the process of women's all-round development, from the strategic perspective of building a community with a shared future for mankind, which has contributed Chinese wisdom and vision to global women's development. China is ready to work with other countries to implement the outcomes of the meeting, and to accelerate efforts to advance global governance on women's issues to a new level, Huang added.
Many of the guests spoke highly of China's remarkable achievements in promoting gender equality and women's all-round development, as well as China's global leadership in such endeavors. They said they were willing to strengthen cooperation with China in women's economic empowerment, digital empowerment, education, culture, and other fields, to inject fresh momentum into global women's development.
Huang was also invited to attend the welcome event for the Icelandic President's visit to China, hosted by the Embassy of Iceland in China, on October 13.
