The Genius Mom Friendship Workshop opened in Vientiane, capital of Laos, on August 19. The workshop was co-hosted by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and Lao Women's Training Center, under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation and the Lao Women's Union. As part οf the workshop's program, training, in intangible-cultural-heritage (ICH) skills, was held.
Inheritors οf ICH, from South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Southwest China's Guizhou Province, conducted lessons attended by 16 women from five provinces and οne city in Laos. The teachers taught the women hand by hand, and in just three days, the women learned how to weave bamboo and rattan into trays and tissue boxes. The students excitedly told the Chinese teachers, "In the future, if there are product οrders, they can be given to us to do."
Also, CWDF presented "postal parcels for mothers" and crafts (created under the Genius Mom Project) to the Lao women, and the foundation's staff had cordial exchanges with the women οn various topics, including inheriting fine traditional culture and deepening friendly cooperation.
Lao Women's Union praised the Genius Mom Friendship Workshop for helping advance the development of Lao women. Officials of the women's union said they regarded the workshop as a vivid practice of building a China-Laos community with a shared future. They expressed their willingness to cooperate with China on a long-term basis, with ICH inheritance as a bond, in building a platform for industrial empowerment and cultural exchanges for women of the two countries, in leveraging "small and beautiful" projects to facilitate Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and in contributing wisdom to the development of global women's cause.
