To strengthen guidance, services and connections for women in new forms of employment, women's federations, at all levels across the country, have taken steps to help women achieve personal development, gain a sense of fulfillment, happiness and security, and guide women in promoting high-quality development.
Organization Building
"This corner feels like home. We can rest when tired, get hot water when thirsty, and communicate with each other," says one woman, a courier, surnamed Li. She often stops by to rest in the Warm New Corner, a center established by the women's federation in a business district in Taiyuan, a city in North China's Shanxi Province.
Women's federations, at all levels in Shanxi, have been working to better serve and unite women in new forms of employment. Warm New Corner was one of the initiatives.
"More than 12,000 women's federations have been established in new types of economic and social organizations, and among groups in new forms of employment, in the province. We will improve our services, and we will develop more activities and projects for the women," says Hao Huiqin, President of Shanxi Women's Federation.
In December 2025, a training class, for presidents of women's federations in emerging sectors, was held in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan Province. Through exchanges, professional guidance, practical training and on-site observation, the class aimed to help women's federations strengthen their capacity and clarify approaches to their work.
Nongbuyangzong, President of Yunnan Women's Federation, noted a combined 38,700 women's federations have been established, in emerging sectors, across the province.
Said one trainee: "By systematically learning theories and work methods, I have broadened my horizons, and I have clarified my responsibilities. I will translate what I have learned into action, and I will actively explore new paths to serve and empower women in the emerging sectors."
Building Mechanisms, Platforms
Fujian Women's Federation (in Southeast China's Fujian Province) has established a mechanism to provide services to women live streamers in villages. It has formed 261 alliances of village women live streamers, to lead and serve more than 10,000 women, and explore new paths to empower women, revitalize rural areas and drive common prosperity.
In 2025, the alliances, combined, generated nearly one billion yuan (US $143 million) in sales volume. The alliances also provided more than 30,000 flexible jobs for left-behind women, which helped those women increase their average monthly income by more than 1,600 yuan (US $229).
In September 2025, to improve the psychological and occupational well-being of women in emerging sectors, Zhejiang Women's Federation (in East China's Zhejiang Province) launched a mental-health-empowerment project for women in new forms of employment.
The project has helped women, particularly women live streamers, enhance their psychological resilience and develop a healthy attitude toward their professions.
The federation has also developed a long-term working mechanism to ensure women's federations in emerging sectors become more competent. The mechanism features guidance from the provincial federation, support from federations, at all levels, and participation of federations in emerging sectors.
Delivering Care, Services
In December 2025, Inner Mongolia Women's Federation and Hohhot Women's Federation (in North China) hosted a law-popularization lecture, Protecting the Legal Rights and Interests of Women in Emerging Sectors.
The event helped the women learn about the rule of law, and how to protect their rights. Li Jing, who works for a property management company, says, "I used to think the Constitution was far from us. Today, I know it is in every action of signing labor contracts, rejecting workplace discrimination and protecting personal legitimate rights and interests."
Zhang Xiao, a ride-hailing driver, says: "I noticed the Constitution contains articles on the protection of marriage, family, mothers and children. Our country is committed to safeguarding the well-being of women, children and their families."
On December 18, 2025, the Women's Warm Winter Action initiative, to benefit women delivery workers in East China's Shandong Province, was launched in Jinan (the provincial capital). Women delivery workers received the "warm package," which contained supplies and protective equipment.
"The gloves are so warm. Now, I can deliver goods in winter, warmly and safely," said one woman. "The handmade scarf is soft, and the skincare products help me tidy up myself. My heart is warm!" said another woman.
Women's federations, at all levels in Shandong, strive to connect with women in new forms of employment, and to provide tangible, measurable services to the women.
"Because we drive trucks, all year, we lack effective communication with our families. Also, driving is too hard, so, sometimes, we vent our emotions on our family members. After listening to the teacher's lecture, I learned how to communicate better with my family," said one woman, a "truck sister," after she listened to a mental health lecture in Zhangye, a city in Northwest China's Gansu Province.
Women's federations, at all levels in Zhangye, are following the vision of "where new employment groups are active, caring services are delivered." The federations have been conducting various activities to address the difficulties, and diverse needs, of women in new forms of employment.
