A six-person delegation from the Academy of the Belt and Road Initiative from the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) visited China Women's University (CWU) on June 13.

The visiting delegation was headed by Niu Liang, executive president of the Academy of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Li Mingshun, secretary of the CWU's Party Committee, held a welcoming ceremony for the delegation.

During the talks, Niu gave praise to CWU for its achievements and experiences in conducting exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign counterparts over the past years.

He talked about the planning of Guangdong-HK-Macao Greater Bay Area in southern China and the latest developments of the Silk Road Youths Art Town in Shunyi district of Beijing, adding that the academy was willing to strengthen its cooperation with CWU in the cultivation and training of international talents, artistic and sports education, and Belt and Road topics in the future.

Li extended a warm welcome to the delegation at the event. He noted that two sides have had many common responsibilities in the Belt and Road Initiative and other aspects.

For instance, the CWU hosted the Seminar on Leadership Capability Building for Female Officials from Developing Countries last year as part of its efforts to act on the spirit of President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the Global Summit of Women (GSW) in New York in September 2015.

Moreover, the CWU has been offering relevant courses and training since it became one of the 26 national training centers for talented personnel for the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing last year.

Li continued that both sides could deepen their cooperation in the building of the Silk Road Youths Art Town, where the university's students are expected to attend off-campus training and land a job.

In addition, they also held talks over other topics of common interest.

The cooperation with the Academy of the Belt and Road Initiative is of great importance for CWU to promote its succession of fine traditional Chinese culture, advance the reform and innovation of its education, expand its platform in talent cultivation, and further improve its functions of social services.

Those in attendance at the event included faculty members from the Academic Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, the Office of International Cooperation, the Admission and Employment Office, the School of Art and Design, the School of Culture and Communication, and other departments of the CWU.
