The spread of AIDS in China has aroused deepening interest in the disease among researchers in the country; and with the soaring of the proportion of women among HIV-infected persons in China researchers have paid more and more attention to the gender issue therein. Thoughts on the Red Ribbon is a fruit of research on AIDS from the gender angle. With the two-prong approach of gender analysis and positivist research, the book explores into the gender relationship of the highly susceptible and ordinary groups of people in the AIDS infection and spread, as well as the differing influence of the AIDS spread on men and women. The book with its arguments not only provides the government with valuable reference in formulating anti-AIDS policies and regulations, but it will also go a long way toward ironing out both sexual discrimination and public discrimination against AIDS.
