Family culture is most influential in the initial formative stage of teenagers’ gender concept. This essay is an analysis of the influence of family culture on the formation and development of teenager’s gender stereotype, complete with a whole battery of counter-measures. The analysis, together with the counter-measures, is based on the questionnaire investigation on the “Formation and Development of the Gender Stereotypes Concept in Contemporary China” conducted by the Peking University Chinese and Foreign Women’s Studies center; on the interviews with junior and senior high school students and their parents in Beijing and Ji’nan, and on the interviews with students of the School of International Relations, the Department of Electronics and the English Department in Peking University on the "Choice of the Areas of Study and Family Influence".
