Some 90 percent of expectant mothers in China insist on natural labor nowadays, with wider understanding of the consequences caused by caesarean section, according to statistics.
Cao Jiangxia, the Chief Physician at Wuhan Maternal and Childcare Service Center, central China's Hubei Province, said: "More and more expectant mothers choose natural labor, which is different from five years ago when C-section was popular."
Several years ago, as much as 46 percent of young mothers in China chose caesareans when they gave birth to their first baby. Many such women experienced cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) when they were having their second baby.
"Natural labor helps to lower the rates of the CSP, which usually leads to extremely dangerous obstetric emergencies," explained Cao.
"Except for natural labor, any invasive treatment involving the uterus should be chosen carefully," said the physician.
