Online travel platform Fliggy, a member of the Alibaba Group, released its "Report on Trends in Polar Tourism in China" on March 26.
The report says that young consumers aged from 28 to 38 have become the mainstay of both Antarctic tourism, at 46 percent, and Arctic tourism, at 70 percent.
Female tourists accounts for 58 percent of Antarctic tourism and 64 percent of Arctic tourism.
Third, the most popular source of polar tourists is the Yangtze River Delta, with around 63 percent of visitors going from there.
Besides, nearly half of North Pole tourists travel with another person, which may be down to the romance of the Arctic. Whilst near the South Pole, 21 percent tourists went there alone to purify their mind with no distractions.
Furthermore, the ability to serve Chinese tourists in the polar regions has greatly improved. Tours are now equipped with expedition members who can speak Chinese, provide Chinese broadcasts and real-time translation of science lectures.
Chinese cooks and other amenities are also available to ease the journeys, say the authors.
