More women will sit this year's "Two Sessions" meetings, namely annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Some 742 deputies of the NPC's new lineup are female. The share grew by 1.5 percentage points from last year, and hit a new high of 24.9 percent.

Moreover, there are 440 women in the National Committee of the CPPCC. The rate of female CPPCC members rose from 17.8 to 20.3 percent.

Statistics concerning electoral units also indicate the improvement of women's participation in politics, say experts.

Some 23 electoral units expanded their proportion of female NPC deputies. Liaoning Province has the biggest increase of 13.7 percent, followed by Taiwan, Fujian and Tibet Autonomous Region.

Women account for over 30 percent of the NPC deputies in six units. Additionally, some 184 female NPC deputies are from ethnic minority groups.
