The average loan requested by Chinese people in their mid-20s who want to go traveling is 5,000 yuan (U.S.$ 769), according to a report by online peer-to-peer lending platform Jiedaibao.

Experts said that youngsters nowadays are more tempted to enjoy a better experience rather than go for shoestring-budget options.

The report said that in the past two years 300,000 individuals submitted a total of around 500,000 travel budget bids on the site.

Furthermore, the report noted that as people grow older they are less likely to borrow money for travel since their savings can already guarantee them a desirable trip.
