Director of the Department for Children of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Deng Li hosted the meeting. About 120 people, including officials of relevant departments, experts and journalists, attended the meeting.

The ACWF, China's Ministry of Education, Civilization Office of the Central Communist Party Committee, Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Culture, National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China, General Administration of Press, Publications, Radio, Film and Television and the China National Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth jointly issued a notice on the celebration of Children's Day 2013, which listed the day's activities.

Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Zhao Donghua said that China would launch education activities about the 'Chinese Dream', create good social environments for children's growth and provide help for disadvantaged children.

Deputy Director of the ACWF's Department for Children Wu Xinping introduced the main content of the report. Women's Studies Institute of China (WSIC) researcher Jiang Yongping and expert on children's education Zong Chunshan talked about the situations of left-behind and migrant children nationally. 

Deputy Inspector of the ACWF's Department for Children Xiang Yang and Chief of Education and Children Development of UNICEF Office for China Mrs. Lata Menon introduced a project on children's early development at the end of the meeting. The ACWF's Department for Children and Education and Children Development of UNICEF Office for China are to cooperate to provide services for children below the age of 3 in community districts, which will create better social environments for children's early development. The project will be implemented in 40 villages and sites in five counties and cities in the Hunan, Hubei and Hebei provinces from 2013 to 2015.
