To celebrate the International Women's Day — which falls annually on March 8 --- and to promote women's physical health, charitable campaign “Happier Homes through Health” was officially launched by the China Women Activity Center (CWAC), Woman's Day magazine, Wujiaw.com and the campaign's organizing committee at an opening ceremony held at the Chinese Museum of Women and Children on the morning of March 8 in Beijing.

During the campaign, bodybuilding exercises, seminars on the maintenance of physical health and other similar activities were held with an emphasis on the building of harmonious family life, on the scientific implementation of family education and on active promotion of positive domestic teaching. With support from the campaign's official website, from the National Digital Platform for Women's Activity Centers and from 100 communities across the nation, the campaign aims to introduce to women from all walks of life over the coming year new, innovative approaches for further boosting their physical health.

At the ceremony, 10 representative women who maintain a healthy lifestyle and who have made great contributions to the advancement of affairs in connection to individual health, were presented with awards as well.

The women representatives gave presentations to attendees about their secrets on how to maintain a healthy life and to build harmonious relationships in their personal life. Among them, Wen Yi, a popular writer and TV host for gourmet-food programs, called on attendees to prepare meals for family members and guests by themselves, which can translate into improved personal health and happiness in the process.

Jointly initiated by the CWAC and the National Center for Women and Children's Health affiliated with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the authority of China's Ministry of Health and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) in May 2004, the charity campaign has held multiple events in the form of seminars, free medical check-ups and professional consultation along with a number of others to increase women's awareness of physical health and to deepen their understanding of scientific methods to achieve that goal in their lives.
