An art exhibition called "Through the Eyes of History: A Hard Journey to Peace", organized to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, kicked off at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on August 22.

The exhibition displays more than 300 paintings in various styles and media, including iconic works from art museums across the country, as well as items made by contemporary painters and practitioners.

Based on the themes of "remembering history, cherishing the memory of the martyrs, treasuring the peace and creating the future", the exhibition reviews and showcases the important victory and the historical significance of the War of Resistance.

Organizers have selected work which praises the great contribution of Chinese people to the World Anti-Fascist War. Telling the story of the historical evolution of the War of Resistance, the exhibition includes three parts: "Roaring China", "The National Anti-Japanese War", and "Victory and Peace".

The historical exhibition was co-launched by the Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Publicity Department of People's Liberation Army (PLA) General Political Department, the China Artist Association and the National Art Museum of China.

The exhibition shows the firm determination of the Chinese people to safeguard the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and ensure fairness and justice around the globe. It also seeks to show the Chinese people's positive stance to treasure peace in modern times and willingness to create a brighter future.

The exhibition runs till September 18.
