In recent years, through the Mom Handworks — Flame Plan Special Fund, the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) has partnered with famous designers in creating ethnic products with both oriental cultural symbols and international appeal.

Launched by the CWDF in September 2016, this fund is dedicated to building cooperatives in rural areas and teaching impoverished women craft skills to help them gain employment.

Currently, several Mom Handworks Embroidery Cooperatives have been put into operation in different ethnic minority counties in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

These counties include Huzhu Tu Autonomous County; Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County, and Guinan County in the province's Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Hainan.

By providing skills training, technical standards and sales channels, the foundation funds local women who hope to improve their lives by working with craft skills.
