A fundraising ceremony titled "Cherish One's Dream" was jointly held by the Zhejiang Women and Children's Foundation and the Hangzhou-based Urban Express in Hangzhou, capital city of southeast China's Zhejiang Province, on April 25, 2015 to celebrate the establishment of the "Spring Rain Fund" and to collect donations for local underprivileged children.

In a letter written to the Zhejiang Women and Children's Foundation earlier this year, Wu Weiye, a student from Baochuta Middle School in Hangzhou, said children from local mountain-based elementary schools were in urgent need of assistance in their education and other aspects and hoped for the foundation to help these children.

In response, the Zhejiang Women and Children's Foundation and Urban Express decided to jointly launch the "Spring Rain Fund," in which children from urban families, along with their parents, were encouraged to become personally involved in charity efforts to help their rural counterparts from poverty-stricken families.

A total of 8 local primary schools, middle schools and educational institutes across the city have signed on to the charity fund so far.

More specifically, experts in the field of charity affairs will be invited to lecture students from these schools and their parents on the cultivation of positive charity concepts and on the building up of relevant practices, while the Zhejiang Women and Children's Foundation is expected to provide attending families with the individual, personal stories of children whom the charity campaign targets. Under professional guidance, classes from the schools involved will connect with their favorite rural children targeted by the initiative and will extend their multiple forms of assistance to the young beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the "Spring Rain Fund" collected a total of 392,000 yuan (U.S. $63,190) at the fundraising ceremony.
