The Confucian Temple in Jianshui County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, was officially recognized as one of the "Representative Bases for Family Education in Yunnan" at a ceremony held by Yunnan Women's Federation on September 21.

Since ancient times, the Chinese have built up many architectural complexes across the nation in commemoration of Confucius (BC551-479), who was a great thinker, educator, and founder of Confucianism in China. The Confucian Temple in Jianshui, which was constructed in 1285 during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), has become the third largest existing building in honor of Confucius. It has been a popular destination for the public to emerge themselves in Confucianism and increase their knowledge of the school of thought whilst touring there.

At the launch ceremony, Vice-President of Yunnan Women's Federation Fang Zhihong listened to the introduction made by local government departments about work on domestic education, and gave high praise to them for their efforts in the implementation of family education with an emphasis upon Confucianism.

She instructed local women's federations to further their observance of Chinese President Xi Jinping's speeches upon the development of family education and morality, strengthen the construction of educational bases and the cultivation of practitioners connected with domestic education, and ensure each family is conducive to national development and social harmony.
