Twenty "Happy Homes for Children" will be built in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region with an investment of 2 million yuan (U.S. $0.33 million), to offer local children a happy childhood, according to the Tibet Women's Federation.
The decision was made after Chen Quanguo, secretary of the Party Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, learned on May 19 that the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) would build 150 "Happy Homes for Children" with a total of 15 million yuan (U.S. $2.5 million) across the country. He made instructions that the Tibet Women's Federation should make a bid to win the special fund to build "Happy Homes for Children" in the region.
The ACWF has devoted great attention to children's work and the "Happy Home for Children" project in Tibet. In late August, Zhao Donghua, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Gu Qingyou, deputy-director of the Political Department of China Air Force made an inspection tour in Tibet, during which Zhao said that 20 "Happy Homes for Children" will be built in the region. After visiting schools in Nyingchi and Shigatse, Gu said that 200,000 yuan (U.S. $32,580) will be raised to implement the safe water project, while another 400,000 yuan (U.S. $65,000) will be raised to implement the bathroom project.
Currently the construction of the 20 "Happy Homes for Children" is being prepared, which will connect all major areas of Tibet. The Tibet Government has integrated the resources of grass-roots departments and women’s federations and organized diverse activities to make the "Happy Home for Children" project in Tibet the most favorable to investors, as well as bases to raise and train dual-qualified talents.
The "Happy Homes for Children" will help build a community family education service system consisting of culture, science and technology, PE, games and entertainment for children in the region.
