Yichang Introduces Measures to Assist Women in Start-ups, Employment

Since 2015, a host of measures have been undertaken by Yichang Women's Federation in Yichang of central China's Hubei Province, to increase local women's ability to manage business start-ups and help them find better employment.

A special fund and cooperative of female entrepreneurs have been set up to provide business women with financial assistance and professional guidance in business ventures. So far, 232 target enterprises managed by women have received loans totaling 380 million yuan (U.S.$ 58.67 million). Meanwhile, the cooperative has helped 2,600 women get guarantee loans.

Thanks to various job fairs and training sessions sponsored by Yichang Women's Federation, nearly 30,000 women have found employment in their hometowns, and more than 20,000 women have acquired technical skills.

Furthermore, Yichang Women's Federation has formed six service centers to provide local women with professional conseling.
