Huang, 19, is from Yichang City in central China's Hubei Province. She will sit for the college entrance exams this summer. Her father died when she was only four months old and then her mother became paralyzed in a traffic accident. Since then, she has been taking care of her mother alone.

However, with a minimum living allowance of only 300 yuan (US$ 48. 84) a month and her mother's high medical expenses, life is a struggle for them. Thoughtful and hard-working, Huang has always been a top student in her class. News on her plight has twice appeared on China Central Television (CCTV) in April and May this year.
