Ten outstanding women are awarded the status of March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetters at a ceremony held in central China's Hubei Province on March 1, 2014, to mark the upcoming 104th International Women's Day which falls annually on March 8.

Zhang Daili, the head of Hubei Provincial Party Committee United-Front Work Department, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, where she spoke highly of Hubei Women's hard-work and their contribution to social and economic development.

Zhang stressed that women's federations at all levels should implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of speeches made by Chinese president Xi Jinping while conducting their work, so as to better perform their duties and safeguard women's legal rights and interests.

According to Zhang's speech, women's federations across the province were urged to enhance ties with women to solve problems affecting their vital interests.

Some charity programs were also honored at the ceremony, including those that specialize in caring for left-behind women and children, boosting employment for female university students and giving more help to orphans, disabled children and single-parent families.
