[All-China Women's Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association]
President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Hong Kong Delegates Association Ip Shun Hing and Vice-Director of the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) Song Wei headed a 38-member delegation to visit the former residence of Sun Yat-Sen, the founder of the Kuomintang Party, with Sun's offspring in Zhongshan, south China's Guangdong Province, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sun from November 19-20.
Members of the delegation included delegates from women's federations throughout the country and female elites from Hong Kong.
At a forum on November 19, Ip reported their efforts related to the implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" and the Basic Law of Hong Kong, and the promotion of women's participation in the administration. The delegation and local officers exchanged work progress around helping women engage in the further growth of social and economic affairs and facilitating the development of youth and vulnerable groups, sharing the common aspiration to continuously strengthen women's communication between regions.
Song praised the sound efforts the ACWF Hong Kong Delegation Association made to promote women's development in the past years. Song also encouraged delegates to learn from Sun's spirit and contribute their efforts to safeguarding social stability in Hong Kong.
During the visit at the former residence of Sun on November 20, Sun Bida, one of Sun's relatives, delivered a speech to commemorate Sun and his life at the activity. Ip stated the significance of studying Sun's great achievements and encouraged people to keep pace with the times and follow the spirit of perseverance to complete Sun's unfulfilled will of making China powerful and strong. She also expressed determination to maintain stability and prosperity in Hong Kong and support the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee's interpretations of the Basic Law to keep the unity of the country.
In addition, members of the delegation also visited a chrysanthemum exhibition in a local town with hundreds of years of history.
