HK Women's Delegation Tours Beijing

Vice-Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in south China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Yin Xiaojing and Vice-Director of the Coordination Department at LOCPG in Hong Kong Song Wei headed a 45-member delegation of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Hong Kong Delegates Association to meet with senior officials about the promotion of people-to-people exchanges and women's affairs during a tour of Beijing on May 11-13.

Members of the Hong Kong delegation included Ip Shun Hing, president of the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association; Chow Lily and Ho Man Kay, both vice-presidents of the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association.

At a gathering on May 12, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the ACWF Shen Yueyue praised the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association for its consistent efforts to promote the sound development of women's affairs and safeguard social stability as well as economic prosperity in Hong Kong over the years.

"The ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association is expected to firmly support the work of local government, contribute its efforts to the successful implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems' and social stability, and help local women play a larger role in the further growth of social and economic affairs in Hong Kong; closely engage in the implementation of national policies on gender equality, the protection of women's legal rights, the assistance of underprivileged women, and the formation of closer ties amongst women from Hong Kong and the Mainland; pay closer attention to the physical and psychological health and employment of local youth, lead them to develop enthusiastic patriotism, organize them to jointly secure local social stability and economic prosperity," Shen said.

During their stay in Beijing, the Hong Kong delegation also met with Qian Yibing, director of the Exchange Department in Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and Lin Zhimin, vice-minister of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

In addition, members of the delegation toured local enterprises and women's business startup centers, where they learned more about the employment and economic activities of women in the Mainland.
