A 40-person delegation from women's organizations in Hong Kong paid a visit to the headquarters of Huawei Technologies, the Chinese networking and telecommunications firm, in the Qianhai New District of Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, on July 4.

Those in attendance included Song Wei, director of the Women's Affairs Commission of the Coordination Department at the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in Hong Kong; Eva Li Kam Fung, vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Hong Kong Delegates Association; other officials from the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association; and, people from all walks of life across the region.

During their visit, attendees toured the firm's display room where they were allowed to closely inspect its latest technological products designed for military and civilian purposes. Meanwhile, they were also briefed about the enterprise's development outline, and economic and social growth in Qianhai over the past several years.

For their part, participants said that the latest tour helped them gain a better understanding of the economic and social development of the Chinese Mainland, since the nation officially introduced its economic reform and opening-up policy in the 1980s.
